Spaghetti & Meatballs

in a classic Italian tomato sauce

Nothing is quite as satisfying as good, old-fashioned meatballs. Take this recipe, and you can mix and match any dish that uses mince.


  • ½ recipe fresh pasta OR 1 packet of spaghetti


  • 500 g mince meat

  • 1 Onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp parsley finely chopped

  • 5 ml (1 Tsp) coriander finely chopped

  • 250 ml (1 cup) bread crumbs


  • 1 Onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 2 tbps fresh italian herbs (basil, thyme and/or rosemary)

  • 1 can cherry tomatoes


for the sauce…

  1. Sautee onion in some oil until glassy

  2. Add garlic and chopped herbs with the tomatoes and simmer for 2 min.

  3. Set aside

for the meatballs…

  1. Preheat oven 180ºC

  2. In a large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients together.

  3. With your hands, roll into a golf ball size and roll in flour.

  4. In a saucepan over high heat brown all sides in a little oil.

  5. Transfer into an oven dish, pour your tomato sauce over and bake for 15-20 minutes in a moderate oven. till cooked.

  6. Serve with your homemade spaghetti.
